Since colonization of the area, our home is found in the seigniorial census records of the "Seigneuries de la Côte-de-Beaupré et leurs premiers habitants". Jean de Lauzon, the Lieutenant governor, granted this seigniorial concession on May 5, 1656 for the King of Nouvelle-France.

• Mgr. Laval gives the titles of the concession to Étienne Morel on March 2^nd, 1668,
• François Lacroix from March 28^th, 1677 to 1788
• Louis Hébert dit Lecompte from 1800 to 1826.
• Louis Cochon from 1826 in 1850
• Marie-Delphine Cauchon and François Morel (trader) in May 24^th, 1850
• Edouard Morel, farmer, hotelkeeper and storekeeper, succeeds from 1880 till 1927.
  More rooms were added to the house in 1880, to accommodate the numerous travelers of that time. thus, founding ”l’Hôtel Morel de Beaupré”. The Morel hotel became more of a domain than a simple place of residence which made Edouard Morel well known on the coast.
• Elzéar Morel farmer, hotelkeeper, from 1927 to 1952
• Gérard Morel, farmer and hotelkeeper, assisted by his sister Gertrude has afterward continued welcoming tourists and sportsmen until 1960. After 80 years of hotel business, the house resumed to its domestic vocation, abandoning any activities which were connected to the hotel business.

This ancestral house is full of memories of its glorious past.

In 2007, a new page of history is about to be written and the house is ready to hear the laughter, confidences and new stories of travelers once again.

Since 2001, André Côté and Julie Racine have managed to restore the house while preserving pieces of its past. The Côté-Racine family have given back the original beauty to the house with a passion. Today this house stands proud and shows many facets of its history.

In summer, 2007, this house will be revived as “La Redingote”, a little piece of paradise, to welcome tourists and guests.
